Get Started
How Do I Get Started?
All riders who take to the boards must start of by attending a certification course. These classes assist with giving a rider all the skills necessary to navigate our “lumberyard” safely. Once a rider has become certified they may join any of our sessions listed on this site. We provide FELT track bikes to those who do not own a track bike. To sign up for a certification class visit our website!
To sign up for a class please register at – http://www.stubhubcenter.com/velo/getting-started-registration or call 310.630.2073.
Who Can Ride The Velo?
Anyone age 16 or older who can ride a bike and is interested in riding the track is welcome to ride the boards of the VELO Sports Center. For youth ages 8-16 we have specialized programming taught by five-time Olympian Connie Paraskevin (www.conniecycling.com)
SAFETY FIRST:
The Velo Sports Center takes safety as its primary concern. The velodrome is a very safe place to ride if all riders are attentive and aware of their surroundings while maintaining proper etiquette for riding a velodrome. Helmets are required and all bikes should be well maintained.

Club/Private Track Rental:
The VSC velodrome is a great place for cycling clubs and special events. Club track rental is a cost effective way for local cycling clubs to get exclusive track time for their members to train and for members inexperienced at the track to get certified to ride in public training sessions. Depending on your club’s needs, instruction and/or rental bikes can be provided. There are enough rental bikes available to fill the track, but riders can double up on bikes if necessary– new riders often will want to take breaks that are long enough for another rider to spend some quality time on the track with the same bike. Riders should bring pedals, shoes, and helmets if they have them. Rental pedals and helmets are also available. For pricing and availability please contact the VSC manager, Travis Smith.
